Y'all ever driven a pickup truck with a manual transmission and the gearshift on the steering column? I have. That's driving in style.

I still sort of miss my red Nissan pickup that I drove from 96-99. I don't miss having no a/c and no working stereo of any kind, but for some reason I wish I still had it.

Check this shit out. It's a book we're going to publish in the spring. Cool, huh?

Madhouse
A Tragic Tale of Megalomania and Medical Murder
Andrew Scull

A shocking story of medical brutality performed in the name of psychiatric medicine

Madhouse reveals a long-suppressed medical scandal, shocking in its brutality and sobering in its implications. It shows how a leading American psychiatrist of the early twentieth century came to believe that mental illnesses were the product of chronic infections that poisoned the brain. Convinced that he had uncovered the single source of psychosis, Henry Cotton, superintendent of the Trenton State Hospital, New Jersey, launched a ruthless campaign to "eliminate the perils of pus infection." Teeth were pulled, tonsils excised, stomachs, spleens, colons, and uteruses were all sacrificed in the assault on "focal sepsis."

Many patients did not survive Cotton's surgeries; thousands more were left mangled and maimed. Cotton's work was controversial, yet none of his colleagues questioned his experimental practices. Subsequent historians and psychiatrists too have ignored the events that cast doubt on their favorite narratives of scientific and humanitarian progress.

In a remarkable feat of historical detective work, Andrew Scull exposes the full, frightening story of madness among the mad-doctors. Drawing on a wealth of documents and interviews, he reconstructs in vivid detail a nightmarish, cautionary chapter in modern psychiatry when professionals failed to police themselves.

Extensive Survey....
What is the geekiest part of your music collection?the hundreds of discs full of mp3s in the closet
What do you eat when you raid the fridge late at night?peanut butter and crackers, except I don't keep them in the fridge
What is your secret guaranteed weeping movie?I dunno as I got one. Probly like Rocky III or somesing.
If you could have plastic surgery, what would you have done?I suppose I could get it right now if I really wanted to. But I don't. Maybe I'd get huge pectoral muscles. And a million dollars.
Do you have a completely irrational fear?Jammie the Clown
What is the little physical habit that gives away your insecure moments?Probably biting my nails. How cliche. One funny thing I do is rub my face. If someone asks me a question I don't want to answer, I invariably rub my face.
Are you a pyromaniac?I've always kinda liked fire, but I don't go around setting things ablaze. I like fireplaces, and I was a bottle-rockets nut when I was a teenager.
Do you have too many love interests?Your mother gots too many love interests.
Do you know anyone famous?I knew three of the guys in Blind Melon before they moved to LA. I've met a few famous writers and editors, but I wouldn't call them up and ask them to shave my back or anything.

Oh man, that book sounds like some serious shit. The description kinda reminds me of images from The House on Haunted Hill (http://imdb.com/title/tt0185371/) where they'd show old-school quack doctors doing crazy experiments and shit. Yeesh.
