Oh yeah, I forgot two things about the Chinatown excursion. When the obnoxious Indiana couple came down the stairs to check out the fake handbags, the wife looked me right in the eye and said, "Do you work here?" Um, yeah. These places in Chinatown selling cheap watches and purses are ALL staffed by white dudes in Mississippi State baseball caps. Common mistake, really.

But when we were leaving the store, I was inordinately happy to see an old Chinese guy out front eating boiled peanuts! "Right on, brother," I told him.

every summer i look forward to the day that my dad drives up with the bed of the truck full of peanuts, still on the plant, that he's jerked out of someone's field.
