I picked up my new guitar from UPS today. Yes, the one from Ebay that I didn't really have the money for but couldn't resist. It is one freaky guitar. A previous owner basically customized the ever-loving shit out of it. I knew that, but I didn't realize just how customized it is. It needs setting up a little better, which I should be able to handle, and I'm probably going to have to rewire the pickups completely, because they're ass-backwards and sideways. I think it'll be a fun guitar once I'm done, though. The strangest thing is the neck, which is v-shaped! I've never played a guitar like that before.

Hm.

What kind of guitar? How can the neck be v-shaped? Veddy strange.

It's a Washburn A-20. I'd heard the term "v-shaped" neck before (usually in reference to certain models of the Fender Stratocaster), but I never really understood what it meant either. The back of the neck is actually v-shaped instead of being more of a semicircle. Like this <] instead of (] (looking down the length of the neck)

Ah. I see what you mean. But why would he put on the pickups backwards and sideways? Maybe he was high.

Heh -- actually, it was me. I forgot that these guitars are normally wired this way and I always have to change the positions of the volume and tone knobs around to get them the way I like them. So basically I was trying to turn the volume down with a tone knob and wondering why it wasn't working. :) And, yes -- many people have suffered Washburn from using lye soap. ;)
