I swear I think the heat is still on in here. We've had some cool days here lately, but nothing that would warrant heat, and certainly not today. But it takes an act of Congress to get it turned off. Forms in triplicate, blood tests, solemn oaths, jacking off in a cup . . .

What's proper attire for weddings these days? Can I get by with a pair of cutoffs and an AC/DC shirt, or should I really get fancy and wear a shower robe?

"Festoon" is a good verb. "He festooned his dashboard with a dead rattlesnake." I gotta start using that more often.

3 p.m. Does that really make a difference? I had no idea. Does it matter that it's before Labor Day?

If you're from some parts of the South, it will be the difference between your John Deere jumpsuit and your overalls, and whether you take the time to polish the shotgun and festoon it with honeysuckle blossoms (I had to throw in "festoon" for you).

Besides, in the afternoon you don't have to put the feedbag on everybody; you can insist on barbecue and BYOB ;-)

before labor day only matters if you want to wear white shoes, which, of course, you should absolutely do.

3pm wedding is not one of the formal ones, so you can probably get away with the cutoffs, but i'd go for a 'love and rockets' shirt rather than AC/DC.
