These next-door neighbors are driving me up the wall. How do people live in utter chaos, with people coming and going and yelling and screaming and fighting all day long? I mean, shit, my life's chaotic, but at least it's private chaos that doesn't make a lot of noise.

I suspect your neighbors are close relatives of MY neighbors. I began to think that the single mom was, um...a lady of ill-repute a sex worker, since people were ringing/knocking at all hours. But it seems she just likes to run up and down the stairs, slam doors, and shout 24/7. So do her boyfriend, son and assorted friends.

:sigh: Our sympathies. I've taken to opening the door and saying pointedly, "Is everybody OKAY OUT THERE?" with saccharine drip inserted. No use.

They are, I must admit, MOVING. Praise Jebus.

Whenever Larry and I have to deal with shit like that (aka - our tenants from HELL, and the teenager a few houses down that likes the thumpin' bass) we generally start remembering our own ridiculously bad behavior. Oh, to be a grown-up and good citizen...........

Yeah, I do remember my own bad behavior, and that's what keeps me biting my tongue most of the time--that and the possibility that I might wanna get wild sometime again. :)

One of the things that bugs me most about these folks is that I hear kids in the middle of all this.

i had some neighbors like that for a while in ga. i got to hear the girlfriend beating up the boyfriend fairly frequently, often in the baby's room, and when her enormous redneck family would visit every day, i'd occasionally be treated to grandma calling her 10-year-old grandson "the dumbest motherfucker..."

thankfully, they bought a doublewide out in the county and moved after about two years.
