Date: 2006-04-20 08:47 pm (UTC)I think the sugar-in-the-cornbread thang is regional. I don't care for white cornmeal, for instance, and I like Mexican cornbread with the whole corn in it. Sweet cornbread is more like muffins, it's not the kind you have with beans or greens. Do your people drink buttermilk?
When Mani was in the VA they had cornbread there that was so tender and good I could have eaten half a pan. I was grunting while I was eating it. That's how you know something is really good, it makes you grunt.

Date: 2006-04-20 11:28 pm (UTC)Pretty much the only time I eat cornbread is when it's part of the stuffing in the Tgiving turkey. One year, maybe my last trip to CT, my aunt stuffed her turkey with Jiffy cornbread. I couldn't eat it. That shit was sweet. I apologized to my aunt and my mom gloated for the rest of the night about sweet cornbread.

CAVEAT: Jiffy mix is acceptable to make pancakes with, since you're just dumpin sweet shit alloverem anyway.
