Yep. I bought a bunch of stuff with iTunes, not realizing I couldn't share them with co-workers/friends. So now I just scan in cds I own, put them into iTunes, and whenever I get an iPod, I'll transfer all of it onto that thing. Otherwise, fuck it. I'll never spend money on their shit again.
Well, I don't really buy music online, as I'm evil and can find just about anything I want for free. ;) I was just using it as a music player because it's the default app on Mac, but I'm gonna have to find something else before I have to go choke Steve Jobs.
Napster has this deal where you can listen to each song 5 times for free. With the way I check out tunes, that should last me for at least a year. Hee.
Yeah, the organization is driving me batshit! I had stuff on my mp3 player nicely organized into band folders and album subfolders, then copied it onto the hard drive--and then iTunes copies it elsewhere on the hard drive and does crazy shit with the folders. And the whole "library" thing is for shit anyway. Grrr!
Speaking for myself, I just hate the way it imports stuff and "organizes" stuff based on mp3 tags, which a lot of my files don't have (at least correct ones). I want to have my own organization structure on the hard drive, and then just choose a folder and click "play in . . ."
I hate the tags thing too. "ID3-Tag IT 3" software is good for correcting multiple ID3 tags. You can select the entire content of a folder and tag based on filename/artist.
I want my own structure too and I accidentally reorganized a lot of things without proper tags and boom, I have a folder of unknown...
i'm not able to multi-tag (or cross-tag, as the kids these days like to say), that's my biggest peeve. and it sucks memory like a mofo. and it's a pain to delete stuff from the library. and i can't import stuff from other people's ipods like i can with winamp. and I SWEAR TO GOD the shuffle function is moody.
