OK, I have no beef with Raggedy Ann. Me and Raggedy is cool, understand? But read the last paragraph of this article and tell me people aren't going a bit far with this post-9/11 stuff.
some canadian childrens show is suing "death to smoochy" because (and there are other reasons too, but this one is the funniest) seeing a beloved character get killed is "a child's version of september 11." jeebus, people.
Oh, jeez. I guess Hitler's off the hook now, too -- instead of people comparing unfavorable things to Nazi Germany, they'll forever be linking them with terrorism. I saw a headline the other day where someone was saying that child pornography is a form of terrorism. I mean, yeah, I guess so -- but isn't the fact that it's child pornography bad enough? Can't we just call it what it is and go after it? Why do we have to take these terms and apply them all over the place, regardless of whether they really apply? People, indeed.
That's rich, though -- suing "Death to Smoochy." That sounds like something out of . . . I dunno, maybe a movie like "Death to Smoochy"! ;)
HAW -- it's something the Wizard of Id says when he's doing a spell. It's something like "Frimmin' on the frim fram, frippin' in the krotz." Come to think of it, I think "HAW" is from Wizard of Id, too.
