Aug. 31st, 2006 11:12 amWhen I was in New Orleans in June, someone was telling me about an art project she'd heard about in which a photographer, not long before Katrina, made postcards with his photos and wrote made-up letters on the back to fictional people. Then he "lost" them around town to see how many of them would be mailed. (The address on all of them was actually that of a friend in Ohio.) It's a very interesting project--sort of eerie, really. I didn't describe it very well, but go check it out:

I can't get that city off my brain! It's been particularly bad since I was there this summer. I want to go back soon. There's a heckuva lotta sadness there now, but I can't help it--I want to be throwing back some oysters in the Quarter right now.

Date: 2006-09-05 08:45 pm (UTC)Yanno, I was just thinking--I've hardly ever stayed at hotels in the Quarter. Either I stayed with somebody in town or slept in the van or got a room on the cheap at the edge of the city or, worst case, drove BACK to MS after seeing a show. It sucked being poor! Wait, I'm still poor.
