I got carded for freakin' cigarettes tonight. I'd have been flattered, but after the woman checked my ID, she STILL didn't believe me. She kept going on and on about how my license had the CT DMV's URL on it: "I ain't never seen one with a WEBSITE on it!" I'm thinking, lady, it's not an actual WEBSITE, it's the goddamn ADDRESS for a website printed on the license. But instead I joked with her, "The damn thing better be good--I paid ten dollars for it just down the street." And she went, "THAT'S WHAT I'M THINKIN'!!!" I was completely bumfuzzled. So then she checked the ID against her little book, and of course the one in the book looked just like mine except no URL. So then she called some supervisor and asked him. Meanwhile, I grabbed the book from her and immediately found a note beside the picture that clearly read, "dmvct.org may appear in red below picture." So finally she sold me my flippin' Camels, but as I walked out, she was still mouthing about never having seen a license with a website on it.

Jesus. I'd have walked out earlier, but I was afeared she woulda called 911 on my young yankee ass and my tobacker shenanigans and I'd have had to take off runnin'.

Yeah, I'd heard that about URLs, but I didn't quite understand it, and hence ignored it. :P

Ugh. You tell me that horror story and then ask why I haven't been to the DMV yet? ;) I still haven't gotten a new SSN card, and I'm afraid they're not going to accept the tattered one I have. And now MY tags are expired, and I can't find my freaking title for the car, so I can't get Alabama plates until I do. So yeah, I just hate dealing with all that crap, so I haven't yet because I'm stupid.

But at least I don't have outstanding tickets--that I know of, anyway. :P
