I do not understand what would possess a person to watch other people playing poker on television.

They have it on ESPN when I'm at the gym and I always get sucked into it somehow. Probably because it's right in front of my face. And because I saw a girl from high school on the World Series of Poker so now I always look for her. But yeah, I don't get it. I guess if you are learning how to play it gives you some strategy?

Yeah, it must be a strategy thing. But still, why?!? I don't want to watch people play checkers or chess--why would I want to watch them play cards?! I dunno. Just another one of those personal-preference things I'll never understand. :)

probably for the same reason that people watch bowling on television...with slow motion 'strikes'.
bowling. in slow motion.

::boggles the mind::

Not even if Biz Markie was playing? I saw him on this hip-hip poker show a few weeks back.

to m e, it's as odd as NASCAR. All they're doing is driving around in circles. What's up with that?

I know it's madness! Hey, when I lived in Virginia, one day I was in the car with some guys, and they turned on the RADIO to listen to the RACE. I said, "How can you listen to NASCAR on the RADIO?!" And they looked at me like I had three heads.

When I first interviewed here at ESPN, they asked me what my least favorite televised sport was.
My answer was Poker.
I told them I thought it was as exciting as watching grass grow.

My interviewers turned out to be poker fans, but I still got the job.

Of course I told them that my favorite was Soccer and their answer was, "Oh, You're the one."

Whoa, soccer! I guess that told them that you're hardcore. =)

Hmmmmmmmmm. I dunno. I hate golf more than just about anything else in the world, but I think it might be more exciting than poker. At least in golf, there's the remote possibility that the ball could nail someone in the head. :P

Good thought. Comes to think of it, that would explain about 75% of the shit on television!
