I loved the book when I was in my Tom Robbins phase in my early twenties. But I haven't been able to read anything of his in fifteen years or more--even to re-read the stuff I used to like! I dunno. I think a lotta lotta people go through that Robbins phase at around the same age and never return to it.
That was my least favorite of all the Tom Robbins books I've read. But I read it before I got in touch with my lesbian side, so maybe I should give it another shot.
Jitterbug Perfume was the one I wasn't crazy about. I should try to read one of those books again sometime. I'm curious to see if I would hate them now.
