Waffle House brawl lands Kid Rock in jail



I still say he looks like Macaulay Culkin on bathtub crank.

What's funny is that in the CNN story, they link to a video that shows "Kid Rock's eerie prediction of Waffle House trouble" from a couple of weeks ago. Oooooooooh, EEEERIE! Like it would have taken Nostradamus to predict that Kid Rock would get into a fight at a Waffle House.

Something about this whole thing reminds me of one time when I was 10 or so and Dad and I went to Atlanta with our neighbor and his kid to see the Braves play. We were at a Denny's real late at night (is there any other time when one would CHOOSE to go to a Denny's?), and all these cops and rednecks were milling about outside. Apparently one of the yokels' brethren had been throwing bricks at people out in the parking lot. Finally the dude came crawling out from the bushes, shirtless as the day he was born, and I'll never forget the sad but matter-of-fact way one of his friends broke the news to him: "Hey man . . . the po-leece got ye . . ." Something about the way he turned that simple phrase really stuck with me. :D

My favourite part about this whole kid rock thing is that it occured at a waffle house. Can't kid rock afford something...you know...edible for god's sake???

I mean, I've eaten Waffle House. Drunk. On a bet. At 3am one NYE when I was in Virginia. I just remember walking out of there smelling like burnt hash browns.

My dirty little secret is that I love Waffle House. I used to CRAVE them when I was in CT. Like, not every day, but about once every six months, I'd just NEED a WH omelet, and I could never get one. But now that I'm down here in Waffle House Mecca, I never go there. Well, I guess maybe once every six months, actually. I guess it takes that long for my grease level to get that low. :D

Also, I love the opportunity for redneck fun that Waffle House offers, like the time I was mistaken for Alice Cooper at a VA Waffle House on my way from CT to MS.

Even better that it happened at a Virginia Waffle House! And nah, I can't hate on your for loving the WH. I'm sure I've got some sort of weird food thing that would make others gag. Ohhh, like cheetos in mashed potatoes (the cheetos are like awesome crunchy spoons, HA). YUM. :D

But yeah, those little yellow buildings are RIPE with redneck action. I'm usually amazed by the people who go there for a good family dinner...a special treat for when Bubba passes English class. Like...dude, at least go to TGIFridays. haha.

And yeah, this motherfucker--and now that I think of it, it may have been up near Winchester, though it could have been further down, like Staunton--marched right up to me after I'd ordered and said, "I'D KNOW YOU ANYWHERE!"

I remember looking around at the servers and hoping someone would get him away from me, but no one did. I had to mumble some kind of shit like "sorry, I don't know you, I'm very sorry, just wanted an omelet," and he kind of wandered off looking all sad. I should have sold him an autograph. :(

Oh man, I don't think I've ever had the pleasure of eating at a Bob Evans. From the outside they kinda look like a combination of a McDonald's and a Shoney's, so I've never been inclined to try 'em. :)

I've actually eaten at one good place in Winchester! The Continental or something like that. I remember they make caesar's salads tableside and have a really good bouillabaise. (sp?!)
