Date: 2007-11-09 04:28 pm (UTC)LOL...although, this does work, I guess. I am from the tippy top of Virginia. It's really only my 'r' sound that makes me all hick-like. Damn speech impediment. grr.

Date: 2007-11-09 04:40 pm (UTC)I was thinking when I was listening to your last phone message that I couldn't really pin down your accent. It's not what I'd call a Virginia accent, but it's not a New York accent, either. It's a Julia accent. :D

You're not Northern, Southern, or Western, you're just plain -American-. Your national identity is more important than your local identity, because you don't really have a local identity. You might be from the region in that map, which is defined by this kind of accent, but you could easily not be. Or maybe you just moved around a lot growing up.

I think the Florida has a lot of neutral accent due to the Yankee, but the Cracker I don't think is listed under Southern. I can usually tell a Florida Cracker accent but most southern accents are pretty regional too.
