Who has sneaker recommendations for me? My everyday shoes have been low-top All-Stars for a good fifteen years, and I don't think I've worn another pair of sneakers in that time. But with all the walking I'm doing in the city, the Chucks are gonna eventually kill my feet. I hate the look of most sneakers, though--all those crazy lines and goofy logos and crap. I just want something that'll treat my feets right without looking completely gueer.

You know, we should just walk up and down Broadway (from Canal to Houston) and then also check out 8th Street, from Broadway over to 6th Avenue. There are loads of stores there, you just might find something you like.

Or, I'll just put you into these:

I wonder if you'd like vans better or some sketchers. I've never worn vans, so I'm not sure if their sole is any better than chucks, to be honest.

AHHHHHHHHHH the buttplug shoes!

Good ideas, all except for that. :P Certainly somebody makes a shoe that won't offend my sense of decency! Like this:

New Balances. Nice & low key, and comfortable.

Well, we'll definitely have to go on a hunt this weekend. I need a new hoodie. The zipper on mine is completely busted, plus the holes in it aren't helping. I AM SUCH A RAGGAMUFFINAMOOK.

Awesome! do a google search for them and see how easy they are to find in NYC. I'm sure we can find them with no problem, but it'd be nice to have a location in mind before setting out.

And Keen's are super comfy and I think they do make some styles that don't look "super new-age hippy recycler".

I was gonna suggest that too. New Balances are THE most comfy shoes, I wear no others. And they're very plain and simple.

I second the Sketchers recommendation. That's my choice. I have black Sketchers walking shoes and a pair of the Calis (sort of like a rubber clog but less clunky).

WHUT?!
YOU BROUGHT THOSE THINGS INTO MY APT?

From: [identity profile] wickedflea.livejournal.com
Not only that, but I was wearing them when I got there! I was honestly afeared that you were gonna send me right back whur I came from. And those blasted things are part of the reason it took me so long to get back to the apartment--I was slipping and sliding all over the place in the torrential rain as I walked back.

I probably saw them but temporarily slipped into a coma or something.

NB = Not Bad. They also make a lot of their designs in non-annoying colors and outer-materials.

Timberland and Born also make some great non-athletic type shoes that are good for urban hiking.

Excellent, I'll probably check out New Balance first, as that seems to be the consensus and I'd heard good things about 'em before.
