Look at this poor excuse for a letter to the editor that some hot sack of dog shit sent to my hometown newspaper. I'm debating on whether to send my response to him personally or to the newspaper. I do sort of halfway know the guy; his wife used to teach in the math department at State with my dad. This isn't the first load of crap that I've read by the shithead. I can't even begin to tell you how offensive this is to me, but we can start with the "nanny-nanny-boo-boo" tone. And if you happen to agree with the swine, please keep it to yourself. I don't want to know. I mean, if you're a Republican, fine, whatever--it's your choice and I respect it, but anyone who takes THIS kind of viewpoint has some serious problems. I'm a Democrat who actually has grown disheartened with the party and is in fact looking elsewhere, but it sure as hell ain't for the reasons this guy lists, and I'm sure as hell not looking toward the GOP.

And I wonder if the errors in the piece were his, the paper's, or the website's. Probably all three--he made them and they didn't catch them.

I never do these things, but I thought these were really good questions for the most part. And I know that my journal has been a bit short on substance about me lately. But I still proably should have used my lunchtime to eat. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mip1979 for the questions.

it's long as hell, though . . . )

I went out for lunch, went to the bookstore, had a nice time walking around campus and checking out the fall color, and came back--and I'm STILL pissed off about that article. But I have an idea.

A couple purty pitchers from today.

Back to work.

Ren & Stimpy fanatics: what episode is it where Ren comes home in a suit and finds the house torn up and gets so mad at Stimpy that he's literally shaking with rage? He tells him everything he's going to do to him: " . . . and then? I'm gonna rip your lips off. And then? I'm gonna tear your arm out of the socket. But first . . . BUT FIRST . . . I gotta take a whiz!" One of the best parts is when he's holding his shaking hands out in front of him, looking at the palms, grinning madly, and saying, "I'm so ANGRY . . ." in a shaky, almost amused voice. It's one of the original 13 John Kricfalusi episodes, all of which I'm supposed to have on tape, but I can't find it!

Oh, wait--it's "Sven Hoek," isn't it?! The one where Ren's cousin from Sweden comes over and he's just like Stimpy? Yeah, yeah, and then Ren whizzes on the electric fence! OK, now I gotta find that. Does anyone have it? I don't know if I'll ever be able to find it, and my copy sucks anyway.

I was trying to think of that because as I was driving to the grocery store I thought of that letter to the editor again and felt just like Ren. "I'm so ANGRY . . ." It might be different I didn't know the guy. And he fancies himself such a family man. Keep on teaching that hate, brother, and watch your kid turns out. I should just get over it, I know--it ain't healthy or productive to let stuff like that affect you in that way. Maybe it's because I'm not around that kind of thought much here; almost everyone in my department is very liberal. I guess I haven't been slapped in the face with that kind of shit in a while (except for the elections last week). That could be part of it too--the fact that I couldn't vote last week because I wasn't registered.

OK, I'm in search of Ren.

update: I still can't find the tape, but I found it on Kazaa! Only a couple of hours for the download and I'll be on like a pot of neckbones. Hey, have you guys tried Kazaa Lite? It works pretty well, and no spyware! I'd never heard of it until it was mentioned in [livejournal.com profile] deadflowers's journal.
