I know I can remember hearing "drawers" for underwear when I lived in Virginia, but I was way over on the west side of the state, and you're on the other side, right?
Haha, yeah, that's actually what I was afraid of. A co-worker made a reference to drawers, and I started to say something like "HAW, drawers!" But I thought better of it. :)
When I am referring to the thing that holds my clothes in my dresser, I pronounce it "Draw" ie: I will put my clothes in the draw.
I cant say "drawer" in a sentence. I look like I have tourettes or something. My mouth gets all funky..LOL
I guess I have a little tiny NY accent in me. My ex (who is a Southerner, born and raised in Montgomery Alabama has the nerve to laugh at ME saying "draw". He also laughs when I say Dog (DAWG) and not (DOG)
I've also been told I say "legs" funny. ie: most people say legs and I say "Laygs".
Haha! It screws me up sometimes too, especially if I make the mistake of thinking about it before I say it. :)
And I'd forgotten about "draw." When I moved into my apartment, I sent my property manager a list of stuff that needed to be fixed. So she called me back to tell me when someone would be in to fix the draws in the kitchen. It took me a minute even to know what she was talking about. :)
The "dawg" thing sounds Southern, though! Seems like I've heard someone talk about how a Southerner can make a one-syllable word like "dog" into about eight syllables. :) "Dahhg" sounds weird to me.

Date: 2003-04-01 01:19 pm (UTC)Context? As in a cool racing stripe down someone's underwear:
"Snicka Draws".
I never hear that word ever. I'm in VA, for your statistical research purposes. lol
