I'm about as far as you can get from being religious. Honestly I'm not sure what I believe as far as god or whatever. I'm not a real big fan of organized religion, to put it mildly. And of course I resent being preached to by people who are religious (not that all religious people want to preach to you; I'm not saying that at all). But some other people who bug the ever-loving shit out of me are the rabidly atheist--the assholes who seem to get such a rise out of telling everyone what they believe, or don't believe, or whatever. Like I give a shit, you know? I don't want anyone in my face about Atheism any more than I want people in my face about Christianity or Hari Krishnaism. I dunno. I've heard it said that Atheists can be the most fervently religious people around, and in a lot of cases it's true. I guess I just don't see the point of letting the idea of god rule your life if you don't even believe in it. Shut the fuck up, have a Dr. Pepper, and enjoy your goddamn Sunday, you know??? Let me figure it out on my own, and don't preach to me, Clyde.

I don't mean to offend anyone or to paint any group of people with the same brush, BTW. I have some avowed Christians and some avowed Atheists reading this, and obviously I got no beef with any o' y'all. Really, people who harp on any ideology too much bug me; it's just these certain ones that I happened to think about today. If you're really curious, I happened to click over to the FAQ at atheists.org, and that's what set me off. It's just so pissy, you know?

I feel the EXACT same way... people suck.

"people suck"...

Now that's a creed I can believe in! We must spread the Word--let's start printing up tracts.

People do suck. I think atheism can become just as intense as some of these religious groups if people are really hardcore about it. It's just not healthy.

Exactly. I've no problem with not believing in god, and that might be the side of the fence I end up on, but geez, why become a crusader about it?

I do agree that hardcore atheists can be annoying, but I have never heard of anyone starting a war in the lack of a God's name. Ha ha...

True enough. A cookie for the atheists. ;)

I think that many people are hypocritical about their beliefs. At least you are honest about your ambiguity.

That's me--as ambiguous and ambivalent as they come. =)

Well, I believe in everything, and nothing. Mostly, I believe there's too much below the surface to be too strict about the details. I don't believe that anyone can not believe everything. Everyone believes something, and whatever they believe is their religion.

Whatever they give their energy to is their god.

Whatever they hope for is their heaven.

Whatever they dread is their hell.

No right, no wrong... all threads in the pattern.

What cracks me up are the atheists who say, "We don't celebrate Christmas". Uh, yeah. Sure.

More importantly, why didn't they show It's The Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown this year? We were robbed, man.

Nope. Apparently NickToons was thinking about showing it, but I guess that's only for satellite tv. *scratches head*

jesus fucking shit that faq is terrible.

i think the problem with atheism is that it's becoming really common (or that agnostic thing; whatever), and thus a lot of kids are picking it up in later high school or even earlier. kids means more arguments online. more kid arguments online means more omfgwtffstffu. so yeah. i have no idea what i am saying or if i just said anything.
