So I went out at lunch today to get a haircut. Between the place I went and where I work is a TGI Friday's. When I passed, I saw this sign:

Holy shit, I thought--when I come back, I'm seeing what that's all about. So I got my haircut, wept over all the gray hair in my lap, and headed back toward work. I turned in the Friday's lot, drove to the light by the sign, stopped, and rolled down the window. A woman came over, told me she was a union carpenter opposed to Friday'ses' practices about such and such, and handed me a flyer.

"Thank you," I said. And I handed the woman a Chick collage. "Oh, thank YOU!" she responded.

It's all over. I'm one of those people.

I don't have a story for this because I don't know the story. This is right down the street from my apartment.

And then there's the badda-boom guy again.

Try again when you can form a coherent thought. Wait, on second thought, don't. Eat shit.

Ha! Your photo posts rock.

There's a place down near San Diego called Dick's Last Resort. According to the ad, they have "loud, obnoxious Dixieland music."

haha! these pictures are great. Funny enough, last weekend I ate at a restaurant on 2nd Ave that advertised itself as Lousy Food, Warm Beer, and Ugly Owners. Uhm. Okay. Food was good, though.

No way! That must be the new cutesy thing to do, like having their sign hung upside-down or something. Those jokester restaurateurs!

Yeah, but it's going to back fire if they take the joking too far. Any jokes about hair or bugs in the food, and I'm not eating there!

No shit! I've already heard too many horror stories about what can happen in restaurants. Hell, I was part of a few in my foodservice days. ;)

Speaking of lousy food, I noticed in your link that you eat at the Bulldog Burrito. Is it better than when it was "the Mexicali Grill" or do you just have a strong stomach for bad burritos? :)

I'm not sure I ever ate there when the other owners had it--maybe once, but I don't remember anything about it. Anyway, it's decent. Not as good as the Roomba cart, but you don't have to eat your burrito while walking down the street, either. :)

so the ownership did change? i thought they'd just changed the name to try to draw in yale business. maybe i'll have to try it some time. you used to be able to get these obscenely large burritos there.

yeah, there is something to be said about sitting down to eat.

People were protesting the "unfair labor practices" when our new Chili's restaurant was built. The original construction crew was fired when a windstorm blew the partially-raised framework down and it got condemned and construction had to start over. So, if you build something structurally unsound that falls down when the wind blows, it's unfair to be held accountable? We aren't talking hurricane force winds here - it was a bad thunderstorm with strong winds. :-/
