I'm pretty sure I bought Ace Frehley's KISS solo album the day it came out in '78. And almost thirty years later (!), every time I put on a CD or mp3 version of that album, I still find myself expecting it to skip in the same places that my vinyl record did.

I do that with stuff too.

That was the only kiss solo album worth having (though I have all four).

Agreed. I bought Gene's back in the '80s, and have the other two downloaded--and yeah, they're pretty wretched.

I saw Will Lee in an NYC subway station a couple of years ago, and I was elbowing my mom in the ribs: "DUDE, he played on Ace Frehley's solo album! And, oh yeah, he's in David Letterman's band."

Hey, I just finished reading Nerd Girl! I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to tell my friends from high school that Vinnie wears a wig. ;)

THEY DIDN'T KNOW???

Best line from New York Groove:

"In the back of my Cadillac
A wicked lady, sittin’ by my side, sayin’ ’where are we?'"

She's not wicked! She's LOST!!!

My favorite line, too!

And no, we were WOEFULLY clueless. I don't think we even knew that Rob Halford was anything but a paragon of scorching heterosexuality, for crying out loud!

Do you still have the vinyl? If so, I think it might be high time you ripped that baby. Rip it out!

I do . . . somewhere. It could be here or in MS or TN. It might even be at my DAD's house. *shudder*

I loves me some "New York Groove." I think it's seriously good, but perhaps I'm biased by the hazy glaze of nostalgia.

I love that tune. To my ears it hold up pretty well, but I'm sure I'm hazed and glazed by nostalgia, too.

I miss LPs. I miss the scratchiness. If that's a word.

Everything was better in 1986.

I miss the big cover art of LPs and the concept of an album having two sides. Like, you know, an album could have different feels for each side. You don't get that with a CD.

But I don't miss cassettes a bit. I spent almost every dime I had on cassettes from like grades 8-12, and they're all fucked up and I don't even have cool covers to look at. :(

I'm the same way with Pink Floyd: The Wall. I remember that Mother would skip right after "Mother will you help me build the wall...the wall...the wall..." Hee. (I borrowed it from the library and made a copy in high school.)

I had Rock Soldiers in my head for most of this week.
