May. 31st, 2006 12:51 amY'all gotta check this out. I got him MID-PICK, yo. Not dialup friendly.

That was in New Haven a few days before I left. I'm retiring from that kind of nonsense, though, so you fellow drivers don't have to worry. Or not. ;)
So yeah. I have no idea whatsoever what day it is. Mom and I spent three nights in NYC, stayed somewhere in VA on the way down, and hit her place in Chattanooga Saturday night. I stayed two nights there and came to visit the Mississippi folks last night. I'll stay here at Grandmother's tonight and tomorrow before heading out early Thursday morning to get my keys and meet the movers at my new place in Tuscaloosa (Northport, actually).
I'm breathing so much easier already--I swear I missed home so much. Now it's like I'm being released into this wonderland of good food, fine women, warm temperatures, and people I understand. I know the south's not for everyone, but it is for me. Where else could I get Grandmother's pound cake?

And where else could I get wholesale Bibles at 99 cents a pound?

Lots more pictures to come sometime in the next . . . few periods of time. Whenever I get enough time and am not on dialuip.

Date: 2006-05-31 02:39 pm (UTC)I miss Chicago for several reasons, and you just named the one that I miss the most, and that's being able to breathe better. My allergies have gotten worse in the 5 stale years I've resided in AZ.
That Great Lakes air did wonders for my respiratory system. Now it's clogged with pollen and dust. I have a mini Tombstone sweltering in my right lung. It's gross.

Date: 2006-05-31 04:34 pm (UTC)I'm very happy for you!! You really really REALLY needed to get out of CT...it almost oozed from the words in your journal how much you needed something new...or to go back to somewhere that you feel at home :)
Good luck with everything!!! I'll send you some braised lamb shanks to devour in the cool of the moon!
