wickedflea: (where is this party?)
Have some tea. G'head, have some tea.

AHA! IT'S NOT TEA! IT'S WATER FROM MY KITCHEN FAUCET!

I spoke with the Regional Water Authority this morning and they said it was because of something that happened Saturday where the main pump went out and the secondary one kicked in, and then when the main one started again it caused a surge or something, and what I'm seeing is mineral deposits. She even suggested that it's SAFE TO DRINK. What the fuck do I do here??? Even if Saturday's incident is what's causing it to be so bad right now, that doesn't explain why I've been seeing these deposits on the bottom of my tub and sometimes getting black or brown water for the past SIX WEEKS. I should have complained long ago, but it was never this bad, and it would always clear up in a little while. But GAH. I can't even wash clothes because of this filth!

Hello,

This is what's coming from my pipes this week. This is plain tap water, not tea or coffee.

This is in no way acceptable. I spoke with someone at the water authority on the phone this morning, and she said the trouble was due to the main pump's having gone out on Saturday and something about the secondary pump kicking on and off, causing mineral deposits. And she suggested that it's SAFE TO DRINK. ?!? Balderdash. If I were to try to drink that putrid mud, I'd doubtlessly choke on the sizable particles floating in it.

Furthermore, this is not the first trouble I've had with discolored water and silt at the bottom of the tub and toilet. Off and on for the last six weeks it's been happening--it'll clear up and I'll forget about it, and then it's back in a few days. Only once before, however, about a month ago, was it THIS bad, and only for a few hours. It's been like this all week. I feel like I'm living in a makeshift military encampment in the Congo. I fear that hatemongering mosquitoes of death are going to start flocking to my abode and I'll end up contracting malaria.

Please let me know that this is being addressed in some manner. My property manager said that the water authority told her it would be cleared up by 4 p.m. Monday, and it's only getting worse.

in filth,
Chris Heller

Wow, I got a reply QUICK yo, like in twenty minutes. We'll see what happens in the morning.
Mr. Heller,

Thank you for the very interesting pictures of what is coming out of your pipes. As they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words!" I can certainly understand your concern and your disgust about what is coming out of your tap.

I have forwarded your message to Tom Barger, our Water Quality Supervisor, and to his superior, Cheng-nan Weng, Ph.D. There has been some discoloration of the water in your area, and Mr. Barger will go into more detail and will assist you in any way that he is able. I will have him either e-mail you or call you in the morning.

Sincerely,

Vivien Carrano, Administrative Assistant
