May. 6th, 2005 10:52 amI want to sleep for about a year and a half. Wouldn't that be wonderful? A Huge waste of time, yes, but all the same . . . wonderful.
These things do not go together:
Good lord. There's a woman up in here wearing those weird jeans that come to the knee and have the little triangles cut out at the seams. With a vest coat.
dob recommended a while back that I should check out the BBC sitcom Bottom, which starred Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson (Rick and Vyvyan from The Young Ones). Finally I have, and it's my new obsession. I was watching it when I was making jambalaya last night. I was chopping onions and doing just fine. But then Eddie Hitler got all hopped up on pheromones and told the woman at the bar: "HAVE ME. Have me--I'm a love albatross!" I completely lost it. All of a sudden I realized that I was standing alone in my kitchen shaking a chef's knife in the air and saying "YES!" as my knees buckled from laughter. I kind of scared myself.

Happy birthday to the notorious
cynical5679! Hmmmm. It occurs to me that I'm really bad about giving birthday greetings. So happy birthday to everyone else who's had a birthday in the last year or so! Drink up, suckers.

Date: 2005-05-06 09:19 pm (UTC)While I was home in PA last week, my parents were discussing how to deal with an ugly sewer fixture that was recently put in our yard. My mom says, "I've seen people paint tires and put them around their homes. We could do that to hide it."
After laughing our asses off, my father and I immediately shot her down on that idea.

While my journal is friends only and I deny anonymous posting, I also say for people to "friend me to see what lies behind the curtain".
Friending works without all the mess of awkward "add me" posts.
Our friend Kat recently friended my journal without a hitch so I know it works.
It just requires the friender to put forth the first commitment to being my friend.
Which is, I dare say, probably a good sign.
On: Bottom.
Yeah, I've only ever seen one Bottom episode.
I think it was the pilot.
Rik's character had just got a job... maybe in insurance or something.
I don't remember much else other than... I seem to recall some sort of physical comedy bits with their flat's window.
Dunno, it's been years.
I'd love to see more though.
Like you, The Young Ones are probably my alltime favorite TV program ever.
