Since I've moved to Tuscaloosa, I've asked two store employees if they could tell me where to find yardsticks, and they've both acted like I meant some kind of sticks that you put out in the yard. Tonight at Target, I had to explain to the kid what a yardstick looks like: "Well, it's three feet long, and it's wood . . ." What's that about? Are yardsticks new to Alabama?
